The Archaeological Studies Major at UW-L is one of the few comprehensive undergraduate degree programs in archaeology in the United States and the only one in the Midwest. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary major that integrates the fields of Prehistoric Archaeology, Near Eastern Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, Geoarchaeology, and Cultural Resources Management.

Our program is built around the theme of close student-instructor interactions with opportunities for in-depth participation by our students in all aspects of archaeological research. Field and laboratory research opportunities for students are abundant and varied. The program's research focus is the archaeology of the Upper Midwest, Egypt, and South America.
